Arbitration is an affordable and less cumbersome alternative to going to court.

In cases where attorney’s fees are being disputed, it is likely that both sides will need to hire an expert witness.

The state of Florida allows parties to utilize private judging in place of a traditional public trial.

Going to court can be expensive and overwhelming for everyone involved. For this reason, many people view mediation as a viable alternative to take a case to court.

A settlement conference is similar to a mediation but oftentimes occurs before a case is filed in court. During a settlement conference, a neutral settlement coordinator will sit with the parties to explore settlement options.

On June 2, 2023, the Chief Judge of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit issued a new administrative order containing different filing requirements for county court civil cases. Notably, certain county court civil cases are required to be filed in the zip code linked to the respective courthouse. Attorneys and litigants could be subject to discipline for failing to file a county court civil matter in the correct courthouse. The Order also requires cases wherein an insurance company is the sole defendant to be filed in the Central Courthouse location. A copy of the Order is attached here .
